Cumbria Butcher makes the cut at top national awards

We were delighted to celebrate awards success at the Smithfield Awards, just recently. The Smithfield Awards is an annual event held by the Q Guild of Butchers which recognises and rewards products created by their members who are among the very best artisan butchers in the country.

We were absolutely thrilled to be awarded the title of Best English Lamb Product for our Rosemary and Garlic Lamb Rump – This was the second award we’ve received for this product having scooped the Supreme Champion title with Best Product at the National BBQ Awards in 2018.

In addition to receiving the overall winning position for our garlic and lamb rump we were also awarded nine gold certificates for our Dry Cured Back Bacon, Traditional Pork Pie, Steak & Stilton Pie, Traditional Pork Sausage, Honey & Mustard Sausage, Cumbrian Roasted Silverside, Chicken Jambalaya, Spicy Beef & Vegetable Stir Fry and Pork & Chilli Jam Pie. Not a bad day!

The awards were judged blind by an independent panel of international food and meat industry experts at City of Glasgow College’s state of the art facilities in October 2018. We were presented with our award by chef and broadcaster Matt Tebbutt at a sumptuous luncheon ceremony in London on 30th January.
